    Mild amino acid cleansers
Sodium cocoyl alaninate, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate

Cleans without the harsh sulfates most shampoos rely on, so your beard keeps the oils it needs. That is the difference between a beard that feels clean and one that feels stripped.

Derived from coconut and plant amino acids
    Provitamin B5
Humectant that converts to vitamin B5 on the skin

    Provitamin B5
    Panthenol

Pulls in moisture and holds on to it, together with a starch-based humectant that sits just as high in the formula. This is what keeps the skin under your beard from feeling tight after washing, which matters when the same product also cleans your face.

    Cosmetic grade D-panthenol
    Hydrolyzed keratin
Protein that settles into the gaps in the hair cuticle
    Tap for details
    Hydrolyzed keratin
    Hydrolyzed keratin

Beard hair is coarser and more porous than the hair on your head. Broken down small enough to reach the worn spots, which leaves the beard feeling smoother instead of rough.

Hydrolyzed to a low molecular weight so it can actually bind
    Cassia bark extract
Warming bark extract for the scalp

    Cassia bark extract
    Cinnamomum cassia

Sits high in the ingredient list, above the preservatives, so it is present in a real amount rather than a trace. Used in Asian hair formulas to stimulate circulation in the scalp during the massage.

    Bark extract, water-based
    Sophora root extract
Root extract for the skin under the beard

    Sophora root extract
    Sophora angustifolia (kushen)

The traditional partner to cassia in Asian scalp formulas. Works on the skin between the hairs, the part of a beard nobody sees but everybody feels.

    Root extract, water-based
    Licorice root extract
    Calming root extract

    Licorice root extract
    Glycyrrhiza uralensis

Used for skin that turns red easily under the beard, especially along a freshly shaved neckline.

    Root extract
    Grapefruit peel extract
    Fresh, astringent peel extract

    Grapefruit peel extract
    Citrus paradisi

Closes off the botanical complex with a light, clean finish and helps keep the skin under the beard from turning oily by the end of the day.

    Cold-pressed peel
    Biotin
Vitamin that supports the keratin structure of the hair
    Tap for details
    Biotin
    Biotin (vitamin B7)

Reaches the beard and the skin underneath during washing. Aimed at coarse hair that tends to split and break at the tips, which is where a beard shows wear first.

Cosmetic grade, added at low temperature
    Argan oil
Nourishing base oil, source of vitamin E and essential fatty acids
    Tap for details
    Argan oil
    Argania spinosa

Deeply nourishes beard hair and skin, restores shine, softens coarse hairs and absorbs quickly without a greasy film. The high vitamin E content protects against environmental damage.

    Morocco, cold-pressed
    Olive oil
Softening oil, rich in oleic acid and squalene
    Tap for details
    Olive oil
    Olea europaea

Stays behind on the hair after rinsing and softens the coarse middle lengths, so the beard combs through without pulling once it is dry.

    Mediterranean, cold-pressed fruit
    Sesame oil
    Light oil that absorbs quickly
    Tap for details
    Sesame oil
    Sesamum indicum

Sinks in fast instead of sitting on top, which keeps a freshly washed beard from looking greasy at the roots.

    Cold-pressed seed
    Silk amino acids
Protein that lies along the hair shaft
    Tap for details
    Silk amino acids
    Sodium lauroyl silk amino acids

Gives the beard a soft slip after rinsing, so it feels less wiry between your fingers and takes a comb more easily.

    Hydrolyzed silk protein
    Soapberry
    Naturally foaming fruit peel

    Soapberry
    Sapindus mukorossi

The shell of this berry contains saponins, nature's own soap. It supports the mild cleansing base so less synthetic surfactant is needed to get a proper lather.

    Aloe vera
    Soothing leaf juice

    Aloe barbadensis

Calms the skin under the beard, which is exactly the spot where washing tends to cause tightness and itch.

Keeps the skin under the beard fresh between washes and works on the flakes that collect around the roots.

Your beard routine in 7 steps

Premium care for any beard length

    1. 1
      Wet the beard

Rinse your beard with lukewarm water, not hot. Hot water strips the oils you are about to protect. Work the water in until the hair is wet down to the skin.

      every wash20 sec
    2. 2
      Lather in your hands

One pump for a short beard, two for a full one. Rub it between wet palms first. Applying it straight to the beard means it lathers on the surface and never reaches the skin.

      every wash10 sec
    3. 3
Massage the skin, not the hair

Work your fingertips through the beard to the skin underneath and massage in small circles. That skin is where flakes and itch start, and it is the part most men rinse without ever touching. The cassia and sophora extracts do their work here.

      every wash45 sec
    4. 4
      Take it over your face

The same lather cleans your face. Go over your cheeks, forehead and neck, then stop before your eyes. That is the point of a 2-in-1: one product, no second bottle.

      every wash20 sec
    5. 5
      Rinse until it squeaks out

Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and finish cool. Leftover shampoo in a beard dries into flakes, which is exactly what you were washing out.

      every wash30 sec
    6. 6
      Pat dry, do not rub

Press the water out with a towel instead of rubbing. Rubbing roughs up the hair cuticle, which is what makes a beard frizzy. Leave it slightly damp for the next step.

      every wash20 sec
    7. 7
Beard oil on a damp beard

Apply beard oil while the beard is still damp. The oil traps the water that is still in the hair, which is where most of the softness comes from.

      after every wash30 sec

    Frequently asked questions

How often should I wash my beard?
Two to three times a week for most beards. Every day only if you work in dust, grease or smoke. Washing more often than your beard needs is the fastest way to dry it out, which is why this one is built mild enough to handle it when you do.
Can I just use my regular shampoo?
You can, but head shampoo is made for a scalp that produces far more oil than your face does. It usually contains sulfates that strip a beard down to dry, brittle hair. This one cleans with amino acid based surfactants instead, so the beard keeps what it needs.
Is it really safe for my face?
Yes, that is what it is built for. The cleansing base is mild enough for facial skin and there is no sulfate in it. Keep it away from your eyes and rinse well, the same as any wash.
    How much do I use?
One pump for a short beard, two for a full one. Lather it in your hands first, then work it in. A 200ml bottle lasts around three months at two to three washes a week.
Do I still need beard oil after washing?
Yes. Washing cleans, oil replaces. Apply the oil while the beard is still damp so it seals in the water that is still in the hair. That combination is where the softness comes from, not from the shampoo alone.
My beard itches. Will this help?
Itch almost always comes from the skin under the beard, not the hair. This one is made to be massaged into that skin, and the aloe, licorice and sophora extracts are there for exactly that reason. Give it two weeks of consistent washing before you judge it.
    What about beard dandruff?
Flakes are dry skin plus product residue that never got rinsed out. Massage the lather into the skin instead of only over the hair, and rinse longer than feels necessary. The tea tree oil works on the rest.
    Is it sulfate-free?
Yes. No SLS or SLES. The lather comes from amino acid surfactants and soapberry saponins, which foam less dramatically than sulfates but leave the beard far less dry.
Can I use it every day?
It is mild enough for it. Whether you should is a different question: most beards do better on two to three washes a week, with a rinse and beard oil on the days in between.
Does it work on a grey or dyed beard?
Yes. There are no sulfates to pull colour out and no silicones to build up. Grey beard hair tends to be coarser and drier, so follow with beard oil while the beard is still damp.
